While Mesh Networks are not new, the idea of putting them in a home is, and while other companies are rushing to be part of the Mesh Network concept, it looks like eero is one of the first-to-market with this interesting concept. Unlike more common range extenders, the signal quality is not supposed to degrade as it passes from one mesh unit to another.Īnyone who has been in a large hotel, conference center, airport or office building and has had strong Wi-Fi as they moved through the building has probably experienced a Mesh Network. Users of a Mesh Network connect to the closest access point as they move through the area based on which access point is providing the strongest signal. The signal passes between the various devices on the network. In its simplest terms, a Mesh Network can be thought of as a Wi-Fi system that uses multiple access points to distribute the signal over large distances. Enter eero, a mesh network system that takes a whole new approach to personal wi-fi and may just be the break-away product we have been looking for.
